The Mobile Minute 107

Last week was pretty busy for me; I had a lot to get done before I left for vacation (“blogging on your vacation?”  yep, we’ll get to that..), so I was head’s down until we left (which was frustrating because a lot of cool stuff happened this week)…

Software / Hardware 

• The big hardware news this came from Motorola.  They announced the Q  (for Qwerty), a BlackBerry-like device that runs Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone.   Here are some links  (and pictures)    And vs. the Treo 650  Also, msmobiles.com has a story about the unveiling itself.
  
• Similarly exciting news came from (er, was leaked about) the forthcoming HTC Wizard (a Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone device with a sliding screen/keyboard).  This device is expected to be distributed as the QTek 9100 / iMate JAM 2 / SPV M600.  More from the usual suspects: Coolsmartphone  Coolsmartphone msmobiles PocketPCThoughts the::unwired the::unwired  Also, PocketPCThoughts has a piece on the HTC Apache – a CDMA version
  
• Coolsmartphone brings us more pictures of the T-Mobile MDA Pro (Orange SPV M5000) – the HTC Universal
  
• PocketNow is reporting that HTC will soon start volume shipments of the iPAQ hw6515 to HP

• WindowsMobile.no has a table listing out the codenames of HTC devices (and the model names/numbers that they get from folks like i-mate, Orange, etc (via CoolSmartPhone) Note: the table doesn’t cover everything (e.g. Audiovox SMT5600 is not listed)

• Resco has released Zip .NET, a 100% managed compression library for .NET CF.
  
• The .NET CF team blogs about using .NET CF 2.0’s Interop features for extending the GUI. Also, common issues and debugging techniques and how to create log files
• Daniel Moth gives us a diagram of the [new in Windows Mobile 5.0] WindowsMobile.Forms namespace and he blogs about visual inheritance in VS2005
• Microsoft gives us some RSS feeds for Windows Mobile (via Windows Mobile team)
  
• David Kline discusses how the VS debugger handles custom exceptions
