it is now possible to configure separate SMTP username and password in Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Ozone Update which is the OS version of Orange SPV C500.

Question: Do operators require a different SMTP username and SMTP password for each user, OR is the SMTP username and SMTP password the same for all customers of a given operator?"

Unsure about other networks but seeing as you mention the Orange C500, thier outgoing server address (smtp.orange.net)does not need any authentication so there is no need for a password or user name.
