Insight into the Task Manager
Sunday, September 25, 2005 2:13 PM
Jeff Atwood has a great piece on the Task Manager where he explains each section of information on it and how it is valuable / can be used and what columns you should view and such. I'd recommend giving it a read, you might learn a thing or two (I did, and I thought I was very well versed in the TM). -Nino Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it!... Read More...

Fixing my CS and .Text URL redirect issues
Wednesday, July 06, 2005 12:40 PM
As some of you may have noticed, ever since I moved Community Server to the root of nino.net, I have had some outstanding URL issues. 1)my .Text redirect (for http://nino.net/blog/ -based URLs) has broken, and 2) all the http://nino.net/CS/blogs/nino -based URLs needed a redirect. I spent a little time yesterday resolving both of these with one solution. I used... Read More...

NLA, redux
Monday, June 06, 2005 4:03 PM
In February, I dropped a post about NLA (Network Location Awareness), and I noted that there should be some articles appearing on MSDN very soon. Well, it is now “very soon”. Dr. Neil Roodyn has published his first NLA article on MSDN . Keep in mind that “Mobile PC” != “Pocket PC”. -Nino Share this post: email it! | bookmark... Read More...

my recent project
Friday, March 04, 2005 1:41 PM
Some time ago I blogged that I was going to post about my last project .. and now, after three re-writes (*sigh*), here’s the post.. The location and schedule: Started off in New Jersey in June 2004; after a few months we moved down to D.C. to be with the server team. The schedule was, um, challenging ( to say the least ). The business: Uh… government... Read More...
Data Anywhere
Wednesday, February 09, 2005 12:43 PM
I attended the Data Anywhere session given by Markus Egger whom you might know as the publisher of this magazine and President of this company . Excellent talk! He demonstrated such passion for his topic, not to mention he ran over quite a bit; I really love hearing passionate speakers. Despite my enjoyment of this talk, I’m actually not going to say too... NLA
Wednesday, February 09, 2005 12:16 PM
What the heck is NLA? N etwork L ocation A wareness; it allows applications to identify the logical network to which a Windows computer is attached. “In the past, developers had to obtain information about a logical network interface, and therefore make decisions about network connectivity, based on a multitude of disparate network information. In those... Read More...

As you may have ascertained by now, I am an attendee at the Microsoft Windows Anywhere [The Tablet and Mobile PC Developer Conference] conference co-lo’d with VSLive! here at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Think about that phrase “Mobile PC” for a moment; what do you think of? It is my guess that in a Microsoft Windows context, most people... Read More...

To IDE or To Not IDE
Saturday, September 04, 2004 10:19 PM
Last night I was reading the InfoWorld that came this week, and read Chad Dickerson's column ( CTO Connection) , the topic of which was The great IDE debate . InfoWorld is a Java shop; as we all know, there are a bevy of Java IDEs to choose from, many of which are open source. Their dev team does not use an IDE; they use text editors (UtraEdit-32, vi, and Emacs... Read More...
