Adventures with Vault and child folders

Yours truly was doing a bit of re-organization of his home network, part of which was retiring an old SQL Server, and replacing it with a new one.  Before doing that, I wanted to double-check some Vault user stuff, so I fired up the Vault Admin Tool... and <sheepish_grin> I forgot the admin password</sheepish_grin>.  D'oh!  (I know, I know.. *sigh*)

After a bit of trying different passwords, I gave up on that approach and hit the Vault forums...nothing.  Well, I thought, since I can still log in with the client and I have nothing checked out (and can tolerate losing history at this point), I will just do a GetLatest on the entire source tree.  Afterwards, I can simply create a new sgvault db and suck this tree back in.  easy-peasy.... almost.

As it turns out, a feature that Vault currently does not support is doing a GetLatest that overrides child working folders.  After spending a few hours in the forums, I found few people were looking for the same feature (with no luck); however, the fine folks at SourceGear have logged the feature requestSwell!    I hope this one shows up soon; meanwhile, I'm gathering up the folders that got placed in their original working folder locations and putting those in the appropriate spot in the tree that I retrieved.

note: the rest of my 'recovery operation' (creating a new sgvault db, and loading that) went swimmingly.  Oh, and if anyone knows of a way of resetting the admin password in my aforementioned situation, I'd love to know for future reference.

I got confirmation today about my next project; looks like I'll be flying again (yay, time to work/sleep in the air).  I'm headed out to EWRFor you flyers out there, you may want to give Seat Guru a peek before you select your seats next time.

I'm stoked about this project! From what I know, I'll be working with some technologies that I have not yet(Oracle Lite, anyone?), and there are several challenges (opportunities for technical growth!) to work through. It's gonna be a good one, folks.

Additionally, I haven't been to that area before, so there will be many new things to see.  I might take a weekend and fly my wife up, so we can head into the city and have some fun.

Ahhh...  A week with a very cranky 18-month old (wife's nephew) is now over, and my wife and I have reclaimed our house, so here I sit with a nicely chilled Hoegaarden getting back into it.

My wife and I watched House of Sand and Fog last night.  Excellent movie. I had not watched a movie with Sir Ben Kingsley in some time; he turns in another outstanding performance.  Jennifer Connelly turns in a good performance as well.

Don Box points out causticTech.  Good stuff.

Oh, and make sure you take a look at the Web Economy BS Generator   (note: the URL and title actually spell out the word, so certain filters may block this)

Update:  Blunderman is damn funny (and true, in my experiences)..  (and for some reason I feel the need to share with you that I was laughing so hard I went into coughing spasms, but damn, it was worth it).

Sweden advanced to the top of Group C with a 5-0 (!!!) defeat of Bulgaria in Lisbon.  5-0.  Haven't seen a score like that in a while...
